But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.2 Corinthians 12:9

HandiCapable Board Meeting
The meeting was opened in prayer by Mike Hines.
Attendees: Mike Hines, Jeff Morehead, Herschel Gulley, Ashley Kersh-Fletcher
1. Ways to count attendance for Chili Cook-Off scheduled for 2009: It was decided that the best way to count attendance would be by the actual amount of money taken in for ticket sales.
2. The total number of hours invested in 2008 Chili Cook-0ff was estimated at 960 hours.
3. The board decided to elect Alan Myers as Head Pepper in next year’s Chili Cook-Off, and Lori Holderman was elected to be co-chairman.
4. It was decided by the board that Handicapable would remain with CASI for next year’s event due to the amount of exposure it generates as well as the competition.
5. It was decided that 1 (one) flyer would be generated that would contain all information pertaining to the Chili Cook-Off, instead of 2008’s three. This would eliminate any confusion on the behalf of the cookers and other participants.
6. The board discussed the pros and cons to incorporating next year’s Chili Cook-Off with the Chamber of Commerce’s Oktoberfest next year and the board concluded it would benefit the cook off in many ways such as: the Chamber would heavily advertise the event themselves as well as have corporate sponsors. Herschel wants to see if Sandy Chittum would consider Miami’s Heartland ability to have corporate sponsorship themselves “if” they were sponsors from outside of Miami County. Mike Hines will discuss this with Sandy Chittum directly.
7. Jeff Morehead and Eva Wildrick are working on completely and submitting the Thank You to all involved with this past Chili Cook-Off.
8. Alan Myers did take care of having the trophy engraved. It is currently displayed at T.W. Finn’s.
9. There was much discussion on scheduling a time for next year’s Chili Cook-Off and it was decided that October 3, 2009 would be the best date as other dates conflicted with other prescheduled Chili Cook-Off’s with CASI.
10. There was a discussion about whether Handicapable donated ½ of the proceeds to the Community Foundation and Mike Hines verified the donation was made and Herschel will clarify this with the Community Foundation directly.
11. Herschel would like research done on whether computers can be donated to those with disabilities. Ashley will do this research and report back at the next board meeting.
Next Meeting: January 20th, 2009 at Ivy Tech College.
